Before I Let Go (Skyland, #1)

Kennedy Ryan

I usually enjoy slow-burn stories and detailed, descriptive writing, but this one didn’t fully keep my attention. I think I was hoping for a bit more depth. The pacing felt slow time to time and slightly dragged out.

That said, K.R. writes about grief in a really beautiful way. I appreciated the strong mental health themes and how the book shows that everyone processes grief, and perhaps emotions in general, differently. It captures how depression can change the way you think and act, to the point where you don’t feel like yourself at all. And even after therapy, medication, and working your way through it, you’re not the same person you were before. You come out the other side, but you’ve been changed by what you went through.

Overall, it was a good read but I don't think I'll read the rest of the series.
