Every Day I Read: 53 Ways to Get Closer to Books

Hwang Bo-Reum

"Reading isn't about remembrance but about the change that can come from reading a book."

This single line.

I found Hwang's essays organised around a simple but radical premise which is reading is not a passive act of absorption but an active, ongoing transformation of the self. I have always felt this to be true but I just hadn't found someone who said it quite so plainly.

I love this book.
